Murchison Falls National Park

With Budongo forest in the South, the Rift Valley escarpment, open savannah amidst scattered trees in the Northern part of the park, Murchison Falls National Park protects a chunk of untamed African savannah bisected by the mighty River Nile. With the mighty falls forming splendid roars as the waters gasps through the narrow gorge. Amongst the mammals, you will find Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Bushbucks, Lions and a variety of bird species, hippos, crocodiles, along the river Nile banks.

Travel to Murchison Falls

Leave Mbarara in the morning. Your adventure will begin driving northwest to Masindi and make a stop at the Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongolo, breeding conservation for the endangered white rhinos in Uganda. Lunch en-route, the head to Murchison National Park, the largest wildlife park in Uganda. Visit beautiful Murchison Falls, a narrow canyon that creates a thunderous waterfall. You will have a view from the “top of the falls”. Before evening you check into your lodge.

Game drive in the park and launch trip along river Nile

Depart for an early morning game drive and explore the savannah in the region of the delta of the Nile on Lake Albert, along the northern bank. You may find elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribis, bushbucks, spotted hyenas, leopards and more. Relax as you drive back to the lodge where you will have breakfast. In the afternoon, take a boat along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. You’ll see an amazing concentration of wildlife in the bank of the Nile, including hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds species, including African eagles, the rare shoebill stork, pelicans, kingfisher, Egyptian geese and much more.

Game drive and return to Entebbe

Early morning game drive or an option to do chimp trekking in Budongo Forest. Look out for various primates, especially the chimpanzees. This is the perfect environment for birding as well.

Then head back to Entebbe either via plane or vehicle (4.5 hrs drive) for an afternoon in Entebbe or straight to the airport, depending on your time of departure.
